Apple iPhone 15 rumors

Updated on June 14th, 2022

Rumors of an iPhone 15 are spreading in the media. Even though iPhone 14 has not made it to the market yet, iPhone 15 design and feature rumors are rife on social media. iPhone 14 is expected to release in October this year and will accompany four models namely, iPhone 14, 14 Pro, 14 Max, and 14 Pro Max. Even though the Apple iPhone 15 release date is set somewhere in 2023, hints about the design and features of the phone have already surfaced.

1. Portless

Apple is expected to release the iPhone 15 without a charging port. It may shun the physical connector for modern alternatives like Magsafe charging, Qi charging, wireless data transfer, and smart connectors. Since Apple kicked out the headphone jack from its iPhones, it seems like the company might be looking for more space to place internal components.

2. USB-C

The tech giant might also be considering removing the Lightning port to install a USB-C port. The company is under pressure from the European Union pushing legislation that makes it mandatory for smartphone manufacturers to shift to a standard USB-C port on every phone. Moreover, some customers are also persuading Apple to shift to USB-C ports as they have become a standard everywhere. It is also widely speculated that Apple might remove the USB-C port altogether and go completely portless in the near future.

3. Touch ID

Apple’s FaceID move backfired when the pandemic began. With people wearing masks all day long in offices and public spaces, iPhone found it difficult to identify faces. Face ID is required to see a user's eyes, nose, and mouth to unlock the device. Users found this frustrating and asked the company to bring the touch ID back. Even though consumers were expecting a touch ID on iPhone 13, the company continued with a face ID. Reports state that by 2023 Apple will bring touch ID back to iPhones.

4. Periscoping Lens

It is speculated that the zoom feature will be improved for the camera system of the Apple iPhone 15. The iPhone 13 Pro is decent for portraits and other pictures however, is not fit for capturing subjects that are far away from the lens. Users are looking forward to longer lenses that can improve the zoom features of iPhones for capturing better long shots.

5. Chip

The tech giant is expected to feature an A-series chip built on TSMC's next-generation 3-nanometer node. According to the company, the 3nm chip technology is expected to boost processing performance by 10 to 15%, and at the same time reduce power consumption by up to 30%.

There is no way of knowing whether these rumors flying around the internet are actually true or not. As a matter of fact, the features of the iPhone 14 are not out yet. Apple iPhone 15 is slated for release next year while its predecessor will launch this year. Apple hasn’t given any hints about the iPhone 14 release date.
