Lenovo may be rolling out an android-based handheld gaming console. The computer maker is yet to officially announce the launch of the device, but information of the device was leaked on the Lenovo Japan and Lenovo Germany websites. If launched, this tiny console will compete with Nintendo Switch OLED, the Steam Deck, and the GPD XP.
Reportedly, Lenovo claims that the Legion Play is the first Android game console designed for AAA gaming titles. The console will let users play numerous cloud games, stream their game library, or play mobile games. However, it is not clear whether the console will enable users to play PC games as well. According to the description provided on the Lenovo website, the console is a 7-inch device highlighting a 16:9 FHD bezel-less display. Equipped with HDR 10, the gaming device houses dual speakers and a 7000mAh battery.
From the pictures published on the Lenovo website, icons for Geforce Now, Play Store, and several other Google apps are visible on the screen of Legion Play. It also showcases USB-C connectivity, a headset jack, a built-in microphone, and a 3.5mm port. You can easily match the design of the console to the Xbox controller. With the right and the left joystick controllers, X, Y, A, and B buttons, D-pad, and shoulder keys.
The image of the Legion Play's screen suggests that it might double as a mobile device because the screen indicates a cellular signal strength icon. The description also suggests that the console will “come soon” to select markets which means only a few countries would get the first glimpse once the product is launched.
