Oura Ring 3 Launches with Improved Health Tracking Features

Oura has rolled out the third generation of its best fitness tracker rings. The Oura Ring 3, according to the company, brings better memory, LEDs, and health sensors. It has also introduced a monthly membership to let users access a content library that includes meditation, sleep, and breathwork sessions.

The Oura Ring Gen 3 features a new set of green LED sensors that can monitor your heart throughout the day to help you understand how your body responds to your routines, meals, stress levels, and environment. "Record your heart rate during runs, walks, and bike rides, and receive post-workout insights to help you understand the relationship between your workouts and your health. You’ll also receive a post-activity dashboard showing location, distance, and key heart rate stats. Coming to Gen3 in late 2021, with Workout Heart Rate your Oura Ring becomes a full-featured, low-profile workout tracker," said Oura.

Oura Ring 3 also features improved sleep staging and better temperature tracking. The company added that in 2022 it will bring state-of-the-art sleep staging to its device to measure blood oxygen levels while users are sleeping and provide more accurate data regarding the quality of the user's sleep. On the temperature tracking front, the fitness tracker maker has upgraded its device to have 7 temperature sensors to help you discover when you may be getting sick

As a relief to women, the gen 3 ring also includes period tracking. "Your temperature data is also used to visualize your menstrual cycle and predict your period each month, so you’re always prepared. Instead of assuming that your period is on the same day each month, Oura accurately predicts your period based on the fluctuations in your body temperature as it naturally changes with the hormonal changes throughout your menstrual cycle," according to the firm.

The Oura Gen 3 ring can be purchased for $300 along with a $5.99 monthly subscription fee. With the membership, users will be able to access the Oura app for daily health insights, personalized recommendations, and a library of meditation, sleep, and breathwork sessions. Additionally, users can only access their personal data and tracking through the app. Existing Oura users who choose to buy the upgraded ring will get a free lifetime Oura Membership, while the new users who pre-order the ring will receive six free months.
