Google has rolled out the January 2022 update for its 2022 flagship Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The Google Pixel 6 January update brings much-anticipated bug fixes for Pixel 6 series phones. Google has posted OTA and factory images to its developer site for the January 2022 patch.
Pixel 6 phones were faced numerous problems after the December update irking the users. The January 2022 update aims to resolve these issues besides providing other features.
"This update fixes critical bugs and improves the performance and stability of your device. Update size 41.25 MB," exclaims Google while downloading the update. If you are updating from the November patch, the update will be 215MB. If it is just the December patch it will be just 40MB.

The software will automatically roll out over the next week, depending on the device and wireless carrier. Some users have already received the official over-the-air update. Anyone can sideload the update to their Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro now from the developer website. They can also use the phones’ built-in checker to start the download. However, waiting for the regular rollout is recommended rather than manually installing it considering the problems faced during the December patch.
New Features
This Google Pixel 6 January Update includes numerous bug fixes and a few new features highly anticipated by the Pixel 6 owners. Changes have been effected to the fingerprint sensor and camera. The tech giant has rolled out support for 23W wireless charging with the second-generation Pixel Stand. This update brings an ultra-wideband chip for digital car key access to compatible BMWs on the Google Pixel 6 Pro.
Google was to ship these features in the December update but had to stop and remove the files as the update was riddled with problems. The December patch was meant to address bugs from the software versions that came before it but ended up causing signal issues to users globally. Google promises to fix these bugs and release general UI fixes to smoothen the user experience.
