Apple App Store Awards 2022: Here Are the Winners

Cupertino tech giant, Apple announced it App Store Award Winners of 2022. The annual award event that started over a decade ago identifies the best apps on Apple gadgets including iPad, iPhone, Mac, and Apple TV. The Apple App Store Awards 2022 winners list has five applications and five games for its devices. The tech giant has also announced five cultural impact winners.

"This year’s winners represent a diverse community of developers from around the world whose apps and games were selected by Apple’s global App Store editorial team for delivering exceptional experiences and making a profound cultural impact," according to the Apple blog.

“This year’s App Store Award winners reimagined our experiences with apps that delivered fresh, thoughtful, and genuine perspectives. From self-taught solo creators to international teams spanning the globe, these entrepreneurs are making a meaningful impact, and represent the ways in which apps and games influence our communities and lives,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

Apple App Store Awards 2022 Winners

• iPhone App of the Year

The iPhone App of the Year was awarded to BeReal, a photo sharing app that motivates users to post authentic unedited images of themselves. It encourages users to “be real” for a few minutes every day without the help of any filters, effects, or lenses. The app picks a random time each day and alerts the user to post a picture no matter what they might be doing. The app began gaining popularity in early 2022, and by August 2022, it had nearly 23 million downloads, according to Time.

• iPad App of the Year

Good Notes5 bagged the best iPad app of the year. It is a digital notepad and PDF markup tool. It is a perfect application to capture handwritten notes and compile detailed documents. You can even collaborate with your friends and edit notes on your iPad with Good Notes5.

• Mac App the Year

Mac Family Tree 10 grabbed the Mac app of the year award. This is an intriguing app that caught the attention of Mac users it allowed users to create and explore their family tree through interesting 3D views, diagrams and reports.

• Apple TV App of the Year

ViX developed by TelevisaUnivision Interactive, Inc. is the best Apple TV app of the year. This program caters exclusively to Spanish speaking audience. It offers 50,000 hours of free and paid premium content across genres including movies, comedy series, novelas, drama series, children’s content, and sports programming.

• Apple Watch App of the Year

Apple announced Gentler Streak Workout Tracker as the Apple Watch app of the year. While other apps focusses more on sweating it out, this Apple Watch fitness app helps users find the perfect balance between fitness and rest.

Gaming App Winners

• iPhone Game of the Year

The strategy battle royale shooter game, Apex Legends, is listed as the iPhone game of the year for Apple App Store Awards 2022. Developed by Respawn Entertainment, this game lets users form two or three player squads where each character is called a legend with distinct abilities.

• iPad Game of the Year

iPad game of the year was awarded to Moncage, a puzzle adventure that takes place in a mysterious cube. This tests puzzle solving skills of the the users.

• Mac Game of the Year

This award was bagged by Inscryption, a deck-building game developed by Daniel Mullins Games. The game is set in a eerie, escape room like setting where users are forced to make sacrifices which makes it a bloody thriller.

• Apple TV Game of the Year

El Hijo was awarded the best Apple TV game of the year. The game is about a boy who should find his mother and face many challenges during the journey. It brings action, adventure and mystery, a fitting game for a big screen.
