The Whirlpool Care Counts laundry program is dedicated to promoting educational equity by putting washers and dryers in schools, removing one tiny but significant barrier to attendance — access to clean clothes.
Principals assist in identifying a trusted teacher, admin, or parent contact to serve as a Program Leader in each participating school. The Program Leader assists in identifying kids to participate in the program and records their loads of laundry, attendance, and grades anonymously throughout the school year. Because each school is unique, the method of laundry differs per school. Many Program Leaders, for example, invite parents to sign up for time slots so that they may come in to wash laundry when it is most suitable for their routine.
Whirlpool believes in the great power of simple acts of care and how a little magic can help make caring easier, which is why the company is delighted to offer the Care Counts™ laundry program to families across Colombia.
"We are excited to get this program up and running in Colombia. Whirlpool Care Counts is something we've been wanting to bring to our region for quite some time, as we're confident it will make a significant impact in the South American region", said Whirlpool Andean Region Director, Santiago Nuñez Castro.
