Here Are Some Amazing Features of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was unveiled by Qualcomm a few days ago with premium features for the next generation Android phones. The Android arena will be seeing a vast number of smartphones featuring the new Qualcomm SoC including Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra, Xiaomi 13 series, OnePlus 11 and Vivo X90 Pro. Touting it as a chipset with groundbreaking AI, here are some of the features of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 introduced by Qualcomm that are noteworthy:

• Elite gaming with ray tracing support

The new Snapdragon SoC delivers hardware accelerated ray tracing support which means now your mobile games will feature life-like reflections, shadows, and illuminations in real time. This would mean an immersive gaming experience that only best gaming phones offer right now in the market. Qualcomm believes that this feature will "bring games to life".

• Camera Powered by AI

The chipset maker has added a 'always-sensing camera' which that can handle everything from QR code scanning to face proximity detection, facial recognition and eye-tracking without having to actively open your device's camera app. One of the notable features of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is the cognitive image signal processor (ISP) that will help android phones pick out the individual foreground and background elements of a photo – in real-time. • Kryo CPU and Adreno GPU

One of the most noteworthy features of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is the Kryo CPU that is built on TSMC’s 4nm process. Qualcomm has added four performance cores instead of the regular three enables improved performance in demanding applications like gaming. This delivers 35% faster performance and 45% improved power-efficiency. The improved power-efficiency is contributed by Adreno GPU which promises high-performance graphics and rich user experiences with low power consumption.

• Boost in 5G Performance

Qualcomm hasn't forgotten 5G connectivity. It has tweaked connectivity feature of the SoC to bring improved performance. The company has installed Snapdragon X70 — "the world’s first and only 5G modem-RF system with an integrated AI processor. At the heart of this system is the Qualcomm 5G AI Suite, which delivers AI optimizations for sub-6 GHz and mmWave 5G links for improved speeds, coverage, latency, mobility, power efficiency and more," according to Qualcomm.

"For pedestrian use cases where you’re either walking or sitting somewhere, you’ll get improvement in 5G downlink data rates for better experiences across all your apps. With mobility and vehicular use cases, you’ll get game-changing performance when streaming content or games when on the go," the company added.
