Google has announced three new Chromebooks that are built for cloud gaming. The company partnered with Acer, Asus, and Lenovo to bring out the new Chromebooks that possess specific features to boost cloud gaming performance.
Acer Chromebook 516 GE, the Asus Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip, and the Ideapad Gaming Chromebook from Lenovo are the new Chromebooks launched today by Google featuring RGB keyboards and high refresh rate screens.
Gaming First
The tech giants have fitted the Chromebooks with gaming-specific features including high-resolution displays with refresh rates of 120Hz and above, Wi-Fi 6 or 6E compatibility, high-quality audio, and RGB keyboards. The maker has even included anti-ghosting, a feature that registers all the key presses accurately even when you jab multiple keys at once.
To bring cloud games to the three devices, Google partnered with Microsoft, Nvidia, and Amazon to support their cloud gaming services Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce Now, and Luna at the highest quality. Gamers will now be able to take advantage of running GeForce Now’s highest performance tier RTX 3080 on these gaming Chromebooks. This graphics card has the power to support resolutions up to 1600p, frame rates up to 120 frames per second, and features like ray tracing for an immersive gaming experience.
GeForce Now will be preinstalled on the devices and users will get a three-month RTX 3080 subscription for free. This subscription gives you access to game titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Control with free-to-play games like Fortnite, Genshin Impact, and League of Legends.
Xbox Cloud Gaming will work on these devices with the help of a web app. This brings Forza Horizon 5, Deathloop, Flight Simulator, and Gears 5 to the table, but only if you have an Xbox Game Pass subscription. U.S.-based buyers are being offered a three-month subscription to Amazon’s Luna gaming service, which includes titles like Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 2 and 3, and Sonic Mania.
