The budget-friendly version of the Google Pixel 6 series will soon hit the market. Google unveiled its latest Pixel device, the Google Pixel 6a, during the I/O 2022 keynote earlier this year. While the device is yet to make its way to the market, there have been several leaks about it already.
Google Pixel 6a Listed on Best Buy’s Website Before Release
As if to deftly tackle the demand, US retailer Best Buy already has a listing for the Pixel 6a on its website as “Coming Soon”. The Pixel 6a will be available in colors including Chalk (white), Sage (green), and Charcoal (black).
All the images shown on Best Buy’s website are from the same set of renders leaked by @evleaks. Best Buy has two SKUs listed on its platform: one Unlocked and the other a Verizon model.
Google Pixel 6a Features
The Pixel 6a follows the footsteps of Pixel 6 in terms of design featuring a unique crossbar camera enclosure on the back. Unlike the Pixel 6, the 6a has the metal case housing swapped out for a plastic one. However, the company has decided to keep the glass back as well as the overall look and feel.
The Google Pixel 6a is fitted with the same Google Tensor chip, which is the standout feature of the Pixel 6 series. Even though it is not the fastest chip on the market, it does offer up to five times more speed compared to the chip in the Google Pixel 5a.
Coming to the display, the Pixel 6a is complete with a 6.1-inch OLED screen with the same punch-hole design as its siblings, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It has HDR and 1080 x 2400 resolution, but only a 60Hz refresh rate. Compared to the refresh rates of the phones in today’s market this is fairly slow.
Pixel 6a’s cameras are 12.2MP f/1.7 main, 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide, and 8MP on the selfie camera The camera system can support the same Real Tone and Magic Eraser trickery as the standard Pixel 6. The phone is equipped with a 4,410 mAh battery that will support 18W fast charging. There will only be a single 128GB storage variant with 6GB of RAM available for Google Pixel 6a.

Google Pixel 6a Release Date and Pricing
The pre-orders for Google Pixel 6a will start on July 21 with general availability starting on July 28. Google Pixel 6a pricing is set at $449 in the US.
