Design and Controls
As we mentioned, the Lenovo Yoga 9i is a statement laptop. Made of an aluminum chassis with shiny and curved edges, we think it’s the prettiest laptop of 2022. Well, it would be wrong to call the design edgy but definitely more classic. Its reflective and glossy foldable attribute makes the Yoga 9i stand out in terms of design. However, the design brought out some pitfalls in the laptop too. Due to its slim construct, the power button might often come in the way when you’re holding the laptop.
Having said that we think it’s still better than sharp-edged laptops. Moreover, this one also has a soundbar and holes around the 360-degree hinge with two tweeters as a bonus to its design. Besides, we also liked its spacious, backlit keyboard. Using the keyboard, you can literally feel its smoothness under your wrist. We particularly liked how Lenovo made more space for the keyboard with its smart arrangement of speakers. And touchpad is nearly 45% larger than its previous model. So, gaming and late-night projects can go on uninterrupted with Lenovo Yoga 9i. On the whole, it’s a laptop that you surely fall for!

Display
Built with a 14-inch 16:10 OLED display, Lenovo Yoga 9i has both 4k and 2.8k models. And honestly, both are excellent with 60Hz and 90Hz refresh rates respectively. Our tests revealed its vibrant colors and true blacks but we feel the FHD+ model results are a little better than the 4k OLED one.
Further, we found that the camera in Lenovo Yoga 9i is a hybrid sensor, which means a webcam combined with the IR camera. Well, this can be a potential mistake but nothing severe. Keeping aside its negatives, Lenovo Yoga 9i’s display is quite decent enough considering its price.
Performance
Well, the performance of the Yoga 9i reveals the main storyline of its powerful performance. Built with the new Intel 28W CPU with impeccable graphics, Lenovo Yoga 9i delivers an outstanding CPU performance. This Intel P-series processor used in Yoga 9i has 4 P-cores and 8 E-cores which means 12 cores and 16 threads in total. So, powerful performance is quite expected.
Besides CPU performance, Lenovo Yoga 9i also has a dedicated GPU that gives a boost to your video editing or gaming. The graphics card used in Lenovo Yoga 9i performs quite similarly to the 11th Generation. Coming to the battery life, we found that a 50% boost in the refresh rate knocks up the battery. That means, that running 2.8k video at 60Hz goes for 13 hours whereas 4k at 90Hz can last for 7 hours. But 2.8k video in 90Hz just lasted for 4 hours. So, now you know why a 50% refresh rate boost brings down the battery life.
That’s all about the outstanding features of Lenovo Yoga 9i. So, if you’re planning to get a laptop just remember Lenovo Yoga 9i is currently the best you can get. Well, we also expect that Lenovo might launch other models in this range, as this is at present the only model. Also, we think the Yoga 9i is priced slightly higher at $1,079. But we’re so confident of its performance that it would be absurd to suggest something else.
