Watch Out for These Games
These are a few games that are on our must-try list for gamers from the Summer Fest 2022 showcases:
1. Layers of Fear
A psychological horror video game, Layer of Fears is being developed by Bloober Team. The game is “about a madness-engulfed, insane painter, striving to create the work of his life.” This is a sequel to the 2016-19 original series from Bloober Team. Reportedly, the new release is going to be one of the best psycho-thriller games. Let’s see if it is powerful enough to beat the Outlast series! Layers of Fear is set to be released in early 2023 on Xbox Series XlS, PS5, Steam, and Epics Games Store.
2. Aliens: Dark Descent
This game’s trailer resembles a top-down shooter squad hunting down aliens. The trailer shows a bunch of xenomorphs on the hunt for space marines. Space marines are positioned on top and are tasked with shooting down aliens from a top-down perspective. This appears to be a squad-based game compared to Alien: Isolation which is a solo adventure game. Aliens: Dark Descent's release date is in 2023 and will come to Xbox Series XlS, PS5, PS4, and PC.
3. Outriders Worldslayer
Outriders debuted last year and received mixed reactions. But it did keep up to its promise of being a super long multiplayer looter-shooter without a single microtransaction. The Worldslayer edition is the game’s first sequel where you can pay $40 for a new area, a new story campaign, and a new endgame progression system. Then you can proceed to play as long as you want, for as much as you want, with full access to every item, system, and location in the game. Outriders Worldslayer's release date is on June 30, 2022, and will be released on every platform in the video game industry right now.
4. Gotham Knights
Gotham Knights takes place after the death of Batman and Jim Gordon. The responsibility of saving Gotham is passed to Batman’s family, Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Redhood. Published by Warner Bros Dick Grayson aka Nightwing takes up most of the spotlight. He will now be armed with dual batons, a grappling hook, a projectile-firing weapon, and some powerful martial arts skills. Get ready to use the powerful skills soon as the Gotham Knight is set to release on October 25 and will be coming to PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
5. The Callisto Protocol
The Callisto Protocol showcases a prison colony called Black Iron located on Jupiter’s moon Callisto. The prison faces an alien invasion engineered by the prison warden and your mission will be to survive the ordeal. The trailer looks scary with a lot of blood and gore. A part of it shows a human turning into an alien and the narrator saying “a chance at rebirth” which probably means the gameplay will have humans turning into aliens into zombie mode. The game is scheduled for release on December 2, 2022, and will be available for Microsoft Windows, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series XlS.
While the Summer Games Fest 2022 did showcase some excellent games, it did miss out on some of the popular releases. Demonschool, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, The Elder Scrolls 6, Return to Monkey Island, etc are some of the most awaited games that didn't appear as a part of the fest. Looks like these games will just have to feature their trailers on their own YouTube channels.
